Q. Where can I buy SKOPE heating products?

A.
New Zealand customers can find SKOPE preferred heating suppliers on our where to buy page.

Q. What type of heater is recommended for main living areas?

A.
Typically fan heaters because they move heated air very efficiently around large areas. These can either be surface wall mounted or recessed into a wall for a more discreet look. Suitable SKOPE fan heater models are the 981e, 723e, 989e, 990e. Larger 2.0kW convection panel heaters models are also good alternatives this includes our range of Tactic, Elite and Consort models.

Q. What is primary vs. secondary heating?

A. Primary is your main form of heating, secondary is a supplement form of heating. SKOPE offers a comprehensive range of heaters that allows you to heat any room, any time. SKOPE can therefore be considered the total home heating solution. SKOPE can be used as the main form of heating, coupled with additional heaters that provide background heating to hallways, and other non-living spaces to ensure your whole home is heated efficiently.

Q. Are SKOPE heaters a clean, healthy way to heat?

A. Yes, very much so. Using electricity from a clean energy source is the best option for the environment as well. Our heaters give off no pollutants or residues which make them ideal for children, the elderly and asthma suffers.

Q. What does IPX7 mean?

A. IPX7 means the product is protected against the effects of temporary immersion in water. This is an excellent rating for towel rails in bathroom and other wet area environments as it provides better safety and placement options.

Q. What advice do you give for an initial set up and operation?

A. All information regarding your newly installed SKOPE heater can be found in the user manual. In your manual you will find chapters covering the installation process, initial start-up and cleaning along with the warranty for your particular model of SKOPE heater. A user manual can be downloaded on the individual product model page or in the support- heating area.

Q. Is there anything I should be aware of regarding the positioning of a heater?

A. Full installation instructions come with the product.
A few guidelines would be:

  • You cannot turn towel rails upside down.
  • Models 989,990,981 and 723 should be placed 200mm–300mm from the floor.
  • Our bathroom heaters should not be positioned over a door and must be 1.8m from the floor.

Q. What is an Ecobox2?

A. The Ecobox2 is a 7-day timer that can control a network of heaters connected by an extra-low voltage pilot wire. The Ecobox2 simultaneously changes the heating mode of all heaters within the network.  It toggles the heating mode of every heater between ‘Comfort’ and ‘Economy’ according to the timer program selected or customised at the Ecobox2. It does not change or otherwise control the thermostat of any heater, it simply changes the mode.

Q. What is the difference between a fan and a panel heater?

A.
Fan heaters have a blower that forces the air out.  These heaters are good for larger areas that need heating quickly (e.g. family rooms, living areas, kitchen/dining).
Panel/Convection Heaters have an element that heats up inside the heater. As a result hot air simply wafts out from the top of the heater. These heaters are good for hallways and bedrooms as they provide ‘quiet’ background heat that takes the chill off the air.

Q. Where do I find the serial number on a heater?

A. The serial number can be found on the top of all SKOPE bathroom heaters. However, on the models 989e, 990,981e and 723e the serial number is found on the bottom. For all SKOPE towel rails the serial number can be found on the bottom rung. Elite and Tactic comfort heaters have a panel on the right hand side, below the controller, where the serial number can be found. While Consort range heaters have their serial number printed on the back.
